Today, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of the most talked and one of the most exciting topics in the world. When we ask to solve a problem to Google, it solves in matter of time but the results may be wrong or may be right. Say, we want to solve a basic algebra problem. When we ask Google, it will display the solved result. That is an AI system. From Large Language Models (LLMs) to Computer Vision, AI is performing many exciting tasks day by day. However, my journey into AI didn’t start with these advanced, complex topics. It began with curiosity and urge to learn.
My AI journey started with Mathematics. The desire of solving problems in algebra, statistics and probability made me to start the journey, and also the love of writing lines of code. The ideas I learned from Mathematics and the experience I got from writing the lines of code, make me to explore the world of AI.
First encounter with AI
I think you guys watched the movie “I, Robot” which was released in 2004. In this movie, human beings take help from robots and robots turned against human beings with the help of some big computer. Oh, how can I forget the good old movie, “Terminator” but for me, the year I watched them is little bit late. In Terminator, the robots are like human beings, can think and can make decision (but not too perfect).
At this time, I thought like what are these movies? In order to understand the ideas behind these movies, I had to read and ask to the people. But after more than a decade, I had the chance to use Internet and then I searched and obtained the ideas behind these movies. These movies are based on Artificial Intelligence. And then, after some years, I watched “Iron Man”, “Ex-Machina”, etc. But Iron Man also inspired me to study further in this field.
Let me tell something about Iron Man. In this movie, first JARVIS and then FRIDAY. But JARVIS, a brainchild of Tony Stark is a good AI system that can talk and decide like human beings. However, this AI type, we call this as Artificial General Intelligence in which AI systems can talk, can think, can decide, etc. like human beings. I watched and still am watching Iron Man, not because of the flying and graphics but because of Stark’s genius ideas and his creations.
These movies tried to tell use the beauty and danger of AI. Now, the world is in Narrow AI but if we happen to develop AGI, then we will start to know the beauty and danger of AI as these movie told us. But this is likely not possible.
Why AI caught my attention?
You know, I am so lazy. I admit it. I don’t want to do a work again and again. After I watched these movies, I realized that if I use AI, I can accomplish this. Meaning, we don’t want to do a job again and again, so we use AI to do it for us. So, we call this in AI as automation. We can automate a job with AI.
I love to watch movie. So, my attention of AI comes from movies actually.
How did I learn AI?
Learning AI started with Mathematics. Okay, I know there are people that don’t like Mathematics, so I think it’s better to not to mention anymore. So, learning AI started with programming for me. In my bachelor degree, I learned programming. First C programming language, then C++, then Java, then .Net and so on.
Programming logic is one of the best logic I am using in AI. But I gotta admit, even I learned these programming languages I am not practicing all of them. So, what is the common programming language we use in AI? It is definitely Python programming language. I can say Python programming language is “jack-of-all-trades” language. Because we can use Python programming language in many areas including game development, web development, etc.
First, I learned Python programming language, all the core concepts including Metaprogramming, Optimization, etc. Then, I started learning numPy, Pandas, Scikit-Learn and then Tensorflow. Most of the ideas I have now, are from projects. Yes in my master degree, I learned Artifiicial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep Learning, but the real experience comes from projects, practical experiments, that is the real reason why I started “Genfera Intelligence”.
I discovered Research
After building many projects, I finally found the most exciting thing, that is Research in AI. Although, my specialization is Natural Language Processing and Computer Vision, I can say Research in AI is the most exciting thing in my life.
I authored two papers, one in Expert System with Applications and one in conference, NEIAIS-2025. These two papers taught me the beauty of research, the patience, the stress, everything about research. I started loving research from these two papers.
Now, I am working on one of the most important topics in AI. I will upload the topic as open-source project in Research category. Briefly, it is about building a library about Metei Language that is similar to NLTK.
Looking Ahead
With all these excitements, I decided to start “Genfera Intelligence” for the better future of human beings. So, AI is very interesting field nowadays because every day, a new idea and new topic will be there and there is always something to learn, something to research. We begin with curiosity and end with long-term passsion for exploring how AI can shape the future.
